Class Description: Conversation is about more than language. Communication involves energies that we can learn to tune into for the purposes of greater understanding of the shape of our intimacy. In Tantra, there are four major manifestations of energy that can be understood and used in order to deepen bonds, clarify and reduce conflicts, and create greater understanding between us. These ideas overlap with some of the linguist's Deborah Tannen's ideas about direct and indirect communication styles. This webinar will define and explore Tannen's communication styles as well as the four energies of yin, tapas, yang, and spanda in the art of conversation and suggest ideas for how to see these energies when working with clients or when teaching.

Learning Objective: By the end of this course participants will be able to:

• To elucidate overlaps between conversational styles and the energies of Tantra for the purposes of education and therapy

• Discuss general principles of indirect vs. direct communication styles

• Identify 4 basic energies of Tantra
