A rich resource for anyone doing sex education in any capacity, this course is designed to teach you how to lead small classes or small groups, such as those that happen in a Sexual Attitude Reassessment workshop. Using Social Emotional Learning, Intersectionality and Tuckman's Group Dynamics as lenses, participants will learn very valuable skills and models for:
1) community building,
2) blocking negative behaviors,
3) dealing with conflicts
4) Dealing with racism, transphobia, ableism and microagressions,
5) supporting participant's learning and liberation, and
6) how to be a compassionate yet firm container for the alchemical process that is sex education.
Goal: To examine and practice small group leadership skills for Sexual Attitude Reassessment and other sex education work, through the following objectives.
Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to 1) recognize at least 3 common dynamics in small groups at a Sexual Attitude Reassessment seminar. 2) Practice skills for responding to microaggressions in small groups. 3) Practice skills for self-care. 4) Recognize several emotional care resources for themselves and their group members.
