Learning about Osunality can help us to unlearn western sexuality constructions that support patriarchal views.  Osunality is a sex-critical, post-colonial, African-centered paradigm that affirms the normality of sexual pleasure and eroticism. Through the Osunality paradigm, historically oppressed views are highlighted. For example, there are non-phallocentric narratives of penile-vaginal-intercourse (PVI) available through one of Osunality’s core concepts- “The Devouring Vagina” that engulfs the penis with agency. Dr. Hepworth Clarke, a cultural sexologist, will describe zir studies with Osunality in Salvador Brazil that increased awareness of other non-phallocentric views of sex such as Ecosex.

Learning Objective: By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to identify one non-phallocentric narrative of sex rooted in African thought.
