Marc Prevette, MS, LPC, NCC, CST-S, CPCS, ATS
Marc is a third-generation military member and a member of the United States Air Force (disabled). He works with veterans to access resources and benefits through government programs such as the Veterans Administration (VA) and with groups to support follow-up and community care programs. He has worked with several groups in the mental health aspects of veteran care and explains aspects of the VA process for mental health and sexuality disability rating systems, which includes access to care, both internal and external to the VA healthcare system. He speaks publicly on this topic in university settings, training seminars, and social media groups. Within his private practice settings, he utilizes several types of trauma care with his veteran population, including polyvagal theory, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-focused Cognitive-Behavioral therapy. Sexual trauma via assault and combat-related injuries are two of the more common aspects of the veteran’s sexual therapy cases he works with. His doctoral research focus is on combat-related genitourinary trauma and sexuality, which he hopes will be accepted as his dissertation topic this coming May.
Dr. Caroline Gonzales, PsyD, LPC-S, CHST, CST, ABS
Dr. Gonzales has been heavily involved with working with veterans for many years. Her group practice in San Antonio is partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project via Centerstone, where veterans and their families can receive up to 12 therapy sessions at no cost to them. Dr. Gonzales works with active duty members of the military as well as veterans. Her work includes helping those who suffer with PTSD, military sexual trauma, dissociation and those who have requested partner or sex therapy services, where she mainly uses EMDR therapy for trauma treatment and hypnotherapy for symptom reduction. Dr. Gonzales has also taught for almost two decades training staff at over 20 school campuses as well as developing Continuing Education courses for therapists. Her own experience as a non-commissioned as well as a commissioned officer and her personal experiences dealing with PTSD make her an ideal person to teach others about the challenges and difficulties that veterans face in the intimacy arenas.
