 Erotophobia is a fear of sex that can be manifested as negative feelings or negative attitudes about various aspects of sex. It is a cultural phenomenon and inescapable in our society. This class will discuss research about erotophobia, various ways that it can present in clients or students, cultural representations of erotophobia, and ways that a sexuality professional can remain sex-positive in the light of cultural attitudes.

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Recognize erotophobic messages.
  • Analyze how erotophobia influences people of various genders.

This program meets the requirements for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for up to 1.5 CE credits.
