Class Description

Cults, particularly destructive cults, are spaces where opportunities for violence and abuses of power abound, and sexuality communities are at higher risk than other groups for developing into arenas of undue influence. The promise of sex, the comfort of community and the transcendence of spiritual growth over the material world are strong draws for people in our uncertain time and divided culture.

This live-streaming webinar will help you to:

• define characteristics of cults
• identify areas of risk of undue influence in sexual communities
• differentiate between destructive and benign communities
• recognize warning signs of undue influence
• take measures to create and/or identify safer spaces

About the Instructor:

Dr. Rosalyn Dischiavo is the founder and Director of Institute for Sex Education & Enlightenment (ISEE). In addition to her credentials as a Certified professional (CSE and CSES) and former AASECT President, Dr. Dischiavo was a student of Swami Ravi in his 3-year Tantra Teacher Training program, and has studied in this tradition of classical and Himalayan Tantra for 14 years. She is the former President of The Body Sacred, a sacred sexuality retreat organization. In 2019 she led the AASECT Institute to create awareness of somatic methods in the sexuality fields.

In her words, “I’m looking forward to exploring the overlaps between the sexual and the spiritual in a deeper way.
While we do so, I want to ensure that we are examining common pitfalls of sacred sexuality communities so that
leaders can avoid causing damage and create spaces that are safe as well as liberatory for all who want to attend.”

Dischiavo, Uttar Pradesh, 2012
